The Buddhist monastery in Bomdila is one of the largest monasteries in India, situated in a beautiful small town by the name of Bomdilla situated at the Western Kameng District of Arunachal Pradesh. At the backdrop lays the brilliant landscape and snow-clad mountains of the Himalayan Range. Tawang monastery in India is the second largest monastery in Asia. One of the monasteries which is high on the lists of tourist is the Uregelling monastery. This is jus 5 kilometres away from Tawang and is the birth place of the 6th Dalai Lama.

Bomdila Monastery

Bomdila MonasteryAs Arunachal Pradesh is the land of Buddhists monks, Bomdilla being the most important monastery is the imitation of Tsona Gontse Monastery which is located at Tsona in South Tibet. The mesmerizing part of this monastery is the prayer Hall, which was adorned by the 13th reincarnate of Tsona Gontse Rinpoche. It was later said to be sanctified by the 14th Dalai Lama in the year 1987.


Tawang Monastery

Tawang MonasteryIt is situated approx. 180 km. from Bomdilla Monastery, situated on the hilltop of the state. Date back in the year 1860-61, the monastery was known by the name of Golden Namgyal Lhatse. The most breathtaking view of this monastery is the beautiful Tawang-Chu Valley.
