Rajgir

Japanese Stupa Famous indian Buddhist Destination… Once the capital of the Magadha Kings
Rajgir once the city of Magadha Empire till the time of Lord Buddha, is located around 46 km away from Bodh Gaya. Therefore, was famously known to be the capital of Magadha Kings. It was only at the time of reign of Ajatshatru, that Pataliputra was made as the capital of this place. As it is the next Holy place to Nalanda, the preaching of Lord Buddha had turned Bimbisara to Buddhism.

Rajgir was the seat of the kings as can be depicted by the name itself. It was also known to be Buddhist Council which was held at Saptparni caves. Jivkamaravana was a famous Buddhist Monastery at Rajgir which was often visited by Lord Buddha out of deep interest and affection towards it. The development and popularity of Buddhism started to spread among the local population. This was generally the peculiar trading class who had immensely helped Rajgir to become as a centre of Buddhist activities.

Jivaka, the famous surgeon and ardent devotee of Buddhism had lived at Rajgir for several years. Hence, had helped Rajgir centre of Buddhism to grow as one famous tourist spot for the spiritual people visiting India from all around the world.
