Bumthang Valley

Bumthang is a sacred, most beautiful historic valley in the Himalayan mountain of Bhutan. It is a marked place since monks and saints had visited this place in the 8th century, under the leadership of Guru Rinpoche. Thus, the Buddhism started spreading in Tibet gradually with the people coming from all over the world. Touring Bhutan’s Bumthang valley is one of the best places for sight-seeing and enjoying the fresh breath of air. The Bhutan’s tribal life is complicated as well as unique.

Wangdue Choling Palace is the historic site in Bhutan. It was built by Wangchuk Dynasty in the year 1856, as one of the finest example of architecture in the country.

Jambay Lhakhang is one of the oldest monasteries built by Tibetan King Songtsen Geombo in 659 AD. It was said that to built this monastery the king had to send around 5000 disciples from all around the country. This historic place is also a platform of celebrations in Tibet.

Tamshing Lhakhang was built in 1501 by the treasure hunter Terton Pema Lingpa with the help of archaeologists. This temple was built believing to be as temple of Good messages. It is located just 5 km from the main town. The interiors of the temple are painted which contains original re-stored images by this Treasurer.

Kunchusum Lhakhang is also known as Tsilung was restored by the Treasure Hunter in the 15th century. This temple is just few kilometer away from the Tamshing temple. The predominant feature of this temple is its bell which has inscriptions carved on it from the 15th century.

Another most fascinating place in our Buddhist Tour and Travel to Bhutan is Kurjey Lhakhang. It has been founded by Guru Rinpoche during his first visit to Bhutan in 746 AD. This place consists of 3 temples and is situated just 7 km away from the main town facing south and at the backdrop lays the Hill top of Himalaya. The oldest temple of this place was built by Trongsa Penlop in the year 1652 with the name carved on a rock. The discoveries and his manifestations were displayed on the ceiling of the temple. Soon after this temple was built King Ugen, of Bhutan decided to build the second temple in 1900 and the last temple was built by Queen Ashi Kezang. All these temples throw a brief light on the prosperity of Buddhist culture in Bhutan.

Lastly, Jakar Dzong was built at the Bumthang valley, which is the centre of administration of Bhutan. Therefore, it had become a residence for the regional Monks of Bumthang Valley.
