It is said to have been built after the establishment of Namgyal monastery in Tibet by the 2nd Dalai Lama. It is therefore, an imitation of the monastery in Tibet. However, the Namgyal Monastery at Himachal has become popular due to its religious center. Its predominant feature is to influence spiritual people of developing the practice of prayers and performing rituals. This is performed under the leadership of Dalai Lama. The Namgyal Monastery of Tibet has become the principle residence of Dalai Lamas. They regularly practice the Buddhist rituals in the name of Lord Buddha, keeping alive the faith till date.
